Profiled OverstayerWanted by Immigration Arrested

Phillip Anthony Melbourne, one of threeJamaican nationals recently profiled in the local media for overstaying,was arrested at 5:30 am in a planned operation on Friday, 26 April2002.

Immigration officers from the enforcementsection of the Immigration Department visited a location in LowerValley, Bodden Town, where Melbourne was found. Although he triedto escape, officers quickly detained him.

Melbourne is in custody and will appearin court on Monday, 29 April 2002. A female Jamaican nationalwas also arrested on suspicion of wilful obstruction of an immigrationofficer.

Chief Immigration Officer Orrett Connorcommended all officers involved in this investigation, emphasisingthe teamwork of officers from Immigration, the Joint IntelligenceUnit and the Uniform Support Group that enabled Melbourne's capture.

Efforts to locate the remaining two individuals,Cardoville Ebanks and Warren Davis, continue. Anyone who knowstheir whereabouts is urged to call the Immigration Departmentat 244-2028 or 911.
