Government and Insurance Managers attend insurance conference in Chicago

A delegation of 37, headed by Leader of Government Business, Hon. McKeeva Bush and Financial Secretary, Hon. George McCarthy, recently returned from Chicago, Illinois where the Cayman Islands Government exhibited at the 41st Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Annual Conference and Exhibition.
As the largest insurance conference in the United States, RIMS attracted over 400 exhibitors and more than 4,000 attendees, and delivered its usual high standard of informative sessions, engaging speakers and valuable networking opportunities.
Government hosted its annual RIMS cocktail
reception at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk Chicago where Hon. McKeeva
Bush, Leader of Government Business and Hon. George McCarthy,
Financial Secretary, welcomed guests. Amongst others on hand were
Cindy Scotland, General Manager of the Monetary Authority, Mary-Lou
Gallegos, Head of Insurance at the Authority, Mike Gibbs, Chairman
of the Insurance Managers' Association of Cayman Ltd. and Nichelle
Welcome, Miss Cayman Islands 2003-2004 in what was her first official
engagement.
In his welcoming remarks at the cocktail reception, Mr. Bush assured
delegates that, "Government is committed to maintaining an
environment in which business can flourish. We remain committed
to striking the necessary balance between a sound regulatory regime
and providing an environment conducive to attracting quality business."
Commenting on the substantial growth in Cayman's insurance industry, Mr. McCarthy thanked clients for their participation in the insurance industry and encouraged their continued support.
