According to a report in the Antigua Sun newspaper, The Cable TV company has filed a complaint with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NRTC) of St. Kitts and Nevis, accusing UK telecoms giant, Cable & Wireless of frustrating its efforts to interconnect with C&W's network in order to offer an alternative telephone service to the consumers of the jurisdiction.

'The net effect of the frustration of The Cable's attempts to interconnect is that it deprives citizens of the Federation of the ability to choose their provider for international telephone service,' The Cable announced in a statement, adding that Cable & Wireless' actions with regard to the disputed interconnection agreement represent 'a major impediment to the speedy liberalisation of the telecommunications sector in our Federation.'

According to the Antigua Sun, The Cable has been granted a license to provide a telephone service, but decided to take action after months of delays on the part of Cable & Wireless.
