First international road race in Cayman running history. BillRodgers is victorious, in a time of 32:19, as first resident finisherAlan Jones comes in at 36:32.
1981
More than 200 local entrants, with Bill Rodgers again gainingthe top spot. Scott Tinley, who goes on to achieve fame internationallyin the triathlon, is runner up. Youngsters george Miller (37:53)and John Ashley Ebanks (37:58) provide outstanding contributions.
1982
Threepeat for Bill Rodgers, followed by Florida high school runnerSteve mandrell. Alan Jones is the first resident finisher at 34:18,while young Herfa Ebanks clocks 41:19 for the ladies.
1983
Four in a row for Boston Billy! A tough battle with his friendTom Fleming, and a winning time of 31:22. Top local performancesby teenager Larry Seymour (35:22. Top local performances by teenagerLarry Seymour (35:52), closely followed by Ed Wilson and AlanJones. Local honors for the ladies to Herfa Ebanks at 40:07, withAudrey Wellington at 41:04.
1984
All good things must come to an end, and this time it was theBill rodgers winning streak. However, it took a national effortfrom the United States to do the trick. Male and female winnersof races in each of the 50 states earned berths in the Caymanevent. Randy Reina of Texas outdueled Dennis Starke, (29:24 to29:35), with Paul Pilkington of Idaho third at 30:03, and Billrodgers in fourth with 30:08. audrey Wellington turned in thebest time for the local ladies.
1985
It was bill Rodgers back on top of the heap, but teenager alexanderBrown opened some eyes with his second-place overall finish at34:39.
1986
The last look at Bill rodgers for a while in Cayman, and he wentout a winner. Outstanding on the local side was the time of 38:18turned in by 11-year-old Chadwick Webster.
