Miss Cayman Contestants inbusy Training Schedule

There are eight finalists for the Miss Cayman2000 pageant and they are on a very busy preparation and trainingschedule. The pageant takes place on Saturday, 30th Septemberat the Lions Centre.

Miss Heather Bodden, MLA for the District of Bodden Town is thecommittee head for the second consecutive year and she is busypreparing the contestants with the help of sponsors and trainers.The girls are busy rehearsing dance routines and there is on goingphysical training at New Image Gym. They are also being groomedin social graces and general knowledge.

Preparing the girls for their night of glory is personal developmenttrainer Ms. Jacqui Niederhauser. The pageant has been organisedand supported by the Ministry of Tourism for the past four years.The Minister of Tourism states that "in order to broadenthe scope of educational benefits, this year's First runner-upwill receive for the first time a $5,000 scholarship, along withthe usual other prizes."

The Miss Cayman Islands winner receives a new car, a $60,000 scholarship,a wardrobe and other prizes and benefits. Miss Heather Boddenindicates that the Pageant is largely self-funded but they havereceived generous support from persons of the business community.

The first major event of the Paegent for this year will be theannual Black Tie Gala fundraiser on Saturday, 12 August, at theMarriot Hotel. The contestants will make an appearance at theMiss Teen pageant on August 19th and there is a visit planed forCayman Brac and Little Cayman on the weekend of August 25th.
