As a series of technology seminars themed,'Generation D ­ Bridging the Digital Divide', continue atthe Hyatt Regency Hotel participants were this week greeted withthe information that will have access to free high-speed Internetservice courtesy of Cable & Wireless.

This which runs every Thursday until 6 Septemberbrings together a number of local and overseas in the field ofinformation technology for presentations to persons ranging fromhouseholders to company executives on topics such as what computersto buy and how systems can be applied in business.

Cable and Wireless has donated the use ofa Direct Connect dedicated high-speed Internet connection forthe use of seminar participants. Direct Connect is a product designedprimarily for business customers, with 64 kbps connections andT1 (1.5 Mbps) connections.

Additionally the company announced in supportof the continuing development of a knowledge economy in the CaymanIslands, and to make it possible for more residents take advantageof the benefits of Internet access, Cable & Wireless is offeringseminar participants a special on the recently introduced AsynchronousDigital Subscriber Line (ADSL) high speed Internet service.

"For the duration of the GenerationD seminars, we are waiving the $120 sign up fee for ADSL to allcustomers who sign up for access at the seminars. It is our wayof encouraging people to attend and to make this new technologyeven more accessible," said Mr. Timothy Adam, General Managerof Cable & Wireless Cayman Islands.
