The next session of the Caribbean HavenResidential Centre began 13 August, and anyone wishing to receivemore information about the substance abuse treatment programmeor arrange for admission into a session is asked to call 949-8789.

The residential centre's three-week programmeoffers treatment for men and women, says its Clinical Supervisor,Mary Cripton. There are also alternative living beds (ALBs) forpersons who may need longer periods of supervision. Located inthe quiet community of Breakers, the centre's professional stafftailors treatment programmes to target each person's needs.

For example group, individual and gender-specificcounselling, as well as recreation and leisure therapy, are offeredalong with stress management; relaxation therapy; spiritualitydiscussions; and educational and life skills. Relatives of theresidents are encouraged to participate in family counselling.

The 15-bed facility includes a kitchen anddining area, laundry room, a recreational hard court and groupand family counselling areas. Ms Cripton adds that centre staff,hailing from the Cayman Islands and internationally, provide round-the-clockassistance. A consulting psychiatrist is employed on a part-timebasis.
