Don't Dumpon the Road
Residents are being asked to take theirlarge garbage items such as couches, bicycles, old appliancesand used tyres, to the George Town Landfill for disposal between4:00 am and 7:00 pm Monday to Saturday and not leave them on theroadside.
The Department of Environmental Health (DEH)has advised that it is not collecting any such bulk waste itemsplaced at the roadside, during this time of year.
These items present a health and safetyhazard for both residents and motor vehicles when left on roadsides.Residents are asked to properly dispose of these objects by bringingthem to the George Town Landfill, which is open from 4:00 am to7:00 pm, Monday to Saturday.
The DEH also said that the public drop offarea for garbage is open 24 hours a day for the delivery of smallloads.
The department still hopes to run its annualisland-wide bulk waste cleanup before the Christmas holidays andwill notify the public of relevant dates and areas for this event.
