The workshops are part of the Universityof South Florida's (USF) initiative to assist the Caribbean byoffering suggestions on how to enhance existing hurricane plans.Presenters Dr George Buck and Mr Mike Maker received a warm welcomeduring opening remarks from Training Co-ordinator, Mr Rupert McCoy.The team was accompanied by USF graduate student Christine Marsh, who is also involved with the project. Grand Cayman was the firststop on the group's informative tour.
"The workshops were a wonderful successwith more participants turning out than expected," commentedMr McCoy. "I was surprised how many people were unaware ofhow to use Cayman's hurricane plan. The workshop was a good wayto bring this information to light. Our plan is of benefit tothe entire population; however it is of little use if people don'tunderstand how it works. We received a lot of positive feedbackand aim to do a follow-up presentation in the near future."
