NominationsOpen for the 2002 Young Caymanian Leadership Awards
Nominations are now being accepted for the2002 Young Caymanian Leadership Awards. The Awards ceremony, commonlyknown as the YCLA, is awell-established annual event enteringits third year.
The YCLA is managed by the Young CaymanianLeaders Foundation, a non-profit organisation whose mission isto recognise and foster the development of leadership qualitiesin young Caymanians. A key objective of the Foundation is to assistthe fund-raising efforts of community-based initiatives,especiallythose that target youth. "Already, I have had the opportunityto speak to groups of all ages and I look forward to upcomingappearances and speaking engagements.
There is an enourmous void of Godly leadershipin our country and as a result our youth today are hungry forleadership. Theyneed to see a consistant model of integrity thatthey can identify with in the community. ", says Dax Foster,2001 YCLA recipient.
The awards are decided upon by an HonoraryBoard composed of 15 prominent Caymanians who were selected forparticipation based on their established positions in the communityas well as their ability and willingness to serve as role modelsfor the younger generation.
Nominees for the YCLA must be between theages of 20 35 and must demonstrate strong leadership qualitiesthrough their personal and professional accomplishments. Candidatesare asked to meet the selection criteria determined by the HonoraryBoard and listed in the nomination forms.
These include such factors as character,professional achievements, community involvement and commitmentto helping others. Past academic performance and level of educationmay be considered but are not a prerequisite for the award.
The 2002 YCLA will be presented to one personat a gala evening awards ceremony. As with 2001 YCLA, the eventwill be televised live and attended by hundreds of Cayman's topcommunity and business leaders, as well as Government representativesand local students.

Anyone may nominate a Caymanian of theirchoice for this prestigious award, including parents, siblings,coworkers, fellow church members, friends or spouses. Informationon YCLA and nomination forms have been forwarded to the humanresource departments of major companies.
