Cayman'sFlavour at New York Hampton's

The flavour of the Cayman Islands has beenpermeating the 2001 New York Hampton's professional team tennisseason since 9 July.

The Department of Tourism is the tournament'sOfficial Destination sponsor and Cayman Islands' staffers havebeen meeting and greeting tournament attendees from an island-themedcourtside booth where information and vacation brochures aboutthe Caymans is easily available for the more than 10,000 attendeesexpected over the four weekends.

Tennis lovers will also be able to enterto win a deluxe vacation for two, with airfare and five nightsof hotel accommodation in Grand Cayman, during each of the Hampton's'weekend matches.

The New York Hampton's, a professional teamled by Patrick McEnroe, will play seven matches over their month-longseason, at the Amagansett EastSide Tennis Club in Amagansett,NY.

There will be men's singles and doubles,women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles in one fast-pacedand fun match.

The Cayman Islands also took part in a specialcharity event on 28 July benefiting the South Fork Natural HistorySociety, an area organization that supports the natural environmentthrough education and preservation.

The New York Hampton's season is a highlightfor residents and visitors of East Hampton, the most upscale summerresort area in New York.

Competing on the circuit are some of tennis'greats past and present, including Monica Seles, John McEnroe,Jimmy Connors and Jelena Dokic.

The Hon. W. McKeeva Bush, OBE, JP, Ministerof Tourism, Environment and Transport for the Cayman Islands,said: "It makes business and marketing sense. The summervisitors to the Hamptons are exactly the types of visitors wewant to attract to the Cayman Islands because they share muchin common with the typical Cayman Island guest. They are family-orientedvacationers, affluent and discerning travellers who take severalvacations a year and who appreciate great weather, pristine beachesand a healthy outdoor life".

He added that getting to the Cayman Islandsis even easier since Continental Airlines started direct, yearround service to Grand Cayman from Newark Airport late last year.This is complemented by Delta's daily, direct non-stop servicein the winter.
