Seventeen-year-old Melissa McField, a proudrecipient of a one-year course certificate in hospitality is thisweek's profiled contestant for the Miss Teen Cayman Pageant. Melissais currently attending the Community College of the Cayman Islandsand plans to obtain a degree in Hospitality Management.
In her spare time she enjoys listening tomusic and interacting with people of different nationalities andcultures.
She is very excited about participatingin the Miss Teen Cayman Pageant and says that the experience sofar has been worth the while. "I have learnt a lot of newthings like how to present myself and how to be more lady-like."She says that the Leo Club Members have helped her tremendouslyin preparation for the pageant itself.
Melissa expects to gain a lot of self-confidencethroughout this entire period in her life especially since sheis a first time contestant.
This young lady believes that if she wasto be chosen as Miss Teen she would contribute to the communityin as much ways as possible.
"I would try to be a positive rolemodel to other young people and try always be there for thosewho need me," she said.
The annual Miss TeenCayman beauty pageant is scheduled for 18 August at the Lionscentre. This event which begins at 7:30 p.m. will see seven youngpeople show off their beauty and brains as they vie to be crownedfor the 2001 to 2002 pageant by last year's Miss Teen Cayman,17-year-old Schwannah McCarthy
