More Decorative Flags forPirates Week

Cindy Braggsof Dart Management and Dave Martins of Pirates Week with one ofthe decorative "banner flags" that have become a trademarkof the festival.
This year's Pirates Week National Festivalwill feature more of the colourful vertical flags around the harbourthat have been used in recent years.
Introduced in 1999, the multi-coloured flagshave become a trademark of the Festival.
They are put up around the harbour and downtownstreets in the week preceding Pirates Week that runs this yearfrom 24 October until 3 November.
Pirates Week Executive Director Dave Martinssaid the colourful flags, made of heavy-duty nylon, have drawnmany positive comments.
"Apart from being a signal that it'sNational Festival Time, we've also heard many cruise ship visitorssay that it gives the harbour a festive look; that it lets themknow some special event is going on," he said.
Funds for the custom-made banners have beenprovided by corporate donations and the donor this year is DartManagement Limited.
John Papesh, of Dart Management said: "Whileit has tourism appeal, Pirates Week is obviously a community-basedevent and we're happy to contribute to that."
