Report on GeorgeTown Landfill draws comment

Dear Sir

Your most interesting article entitled "LandfillNearly Full" was certainly a well-written article and mostdeserving to be a priority in your community.

I lived on Grand Cayman for several summersin the 1960s and know that there were areas on Grand Cayman thatseemed to be called "swamp area". If Grand Cayman hasnot yet been totally developed, could it be that these areas couldbe procured and designated for a new landfill area? The mosquitoproblem that seems to be a constant challenge would also be takencare of.

After the area was "filled in"could it be that a world class golf course could then be developedon top of this filled in area?
As an involved citizen in the City of Orlando we have recordsat our City Hall that reflect the fact that several golf courseshave been developed successfully on land fills. Other Cities likethe City of St. Petersburg, City of Tampa and City of Augusta,Georgia have done the same thing.

What about that 58 acres of government ownedland that you report about being in the George Town Landfill? The George Town Golf and Racquet Club could be a fitting namefor this. When life hands us lemons it is a known fact that resourcefulCaymanians make more than just lemonade!!!!
