William Conolly:A Welcome Addition to the Grand Caymanian

The Grand Caymanian Resort has recentlyannounced that Mr. William M. Conolly, former Vice President ofSales & Marketing at Britannia, has joined their team.
Mr. Conolly, who majored in performing artsand minored in business at Graceland College and Western KentuckyUniversity, received his professional development training inhotel management at Cornell University and his educational designationfrom the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and MotelAssociation.
He first developed an interest in tourismwhile working at the Royal Palms Hotel, where he was also performingat the hotel's "Inn Theatre". He continued to work inthe industry and held the position of Assistant General Managerat the Galleon Beach Hotel in Grand Cayman and later at the Dunfey/OmniHotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He worked in the Chicago office for theCayman Island Department of Tourism, and then joined the HyattRegency where he served as the Assistant General Manager in GrandCayman for eight years and as the Assistant Rooms Executive atthe Five Star Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Floridafor two more years.
For the past five years Mr. Conolly hasbeen the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Britannia the owner/developer of the Hyatt Regency of Grand Cayman.
The man who is affectionately referred toas "Mr. Hospitality" hopes that his experience sparksinterest from younger generations in the industry. "I hopethat the results of my hard work and dedication will be an inspirationto young Caymanians to invest their future in tourism," hesays. Having enjoyed success in many aspects of the hospitalityindustry, he offers this advice: "Like everything in life,what you get out of it is determined by what you put in [it]."
The Grand Caymanian Resort has been undergoingsome restructuring and according to Mrs. Theresa Foster, ManagingDirector and CEO of GKF Group Ltd- owners of the Grand CaymanianResort, having Mr. Conolly's public relations skills, knowledgeof market trends, and extensive work experience will play a majorpart in this task.
"In order to accomplish certain goalspertaining to the changes in doing business, we felt it was vitalto add Mr. Conolly to our management team," she says. "Williamis a true-born Caymanian who is well traveled and as a resulthas a global perspective on issues affecting the tourism industryand Cayman in general. We are obviously elated to have a Caymanianin this position, and we are confident that we will benefit immenselyfrom his experience," she adds.
