OBM Announces New ManagementAppointments

OBM Limited, a leading design firm in theCaribbean, has promoted Ms. Cindy O'Hara, Architectural Managerfor OBM, to the position of Managing Director. Leaving her postas architecture manager for the past year, Ms. O'Hara has assumedthe responsibility of overseeing the Cayman office, which comprisesrestructuring and managing the operations for architectural andinterior design services, and project management services forspecific clients.
Ms. O'Hara, a Cayman resident for 27 years,replaces acting Managing Director, Mr. Jim Scott, who has beenappointed as a director of OBM International (OBMI), the holdingcompany, and will focus on three areas of expertise: quality assurance,company standards and project management. Mr. Scott will alsobe taking an active role in business development and regionaldevelopment, assisting Mr. Bill Bissell, President and CEO ofOBMI and a member of the company for 32 years.
Both Mr. Scott and Mr. Bissell will continueto operate out of the Cayman office.
Specializing in commercial design and luxurysingle-family, multi-residential and condominium development,Ms. O'Hara has devoted the past eleven years to gaining specificarchitectural experience in these areas. With a Bachelor of Architecturefrom the University of Toronto, she first interned and then workedwith CGMJ Architects for nine years, as well as other companies,and is a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada(MRAIC) and the Cayman Society of Architects, Surveyors &Engineers (CASE).
"Because I had the good fortune asa young architect to work on an array of projects, I would liketo offer my team the opportunity to become immersed in the fullscope of architecture, from design to contract administration,in dealing with current projects," said Ms O'Hara. "Moreover,by nurturing this type of work environment, our designers developa broad skill base, and, equally important, our clients have anentire team by their side, as opposed to one or two point people."
Assisting Cindy O'Hara in the managementof the design team are Senior Interior Designer Lori McRae andProject Manager Russell Linford.
As head of interior design for OBM in Cayman,Ms. McRae, an 18-year interior design veteran, has handled a seriesof icon projects through which the company has showcased the differencebetween a professional interior designer and a general designservice provider.
According to OBM, what sets Ms. McRae apartfrom other designers is her knowledge and experience of interiorarchitecture, her attention to detail, solid understanding offinishes and aesthetics, and proper management of the relocation,an element often overlooked.
Mr. Russell Linford heads up the projectmanagement division, bringing with him diverse experience, aswell. A former project manager in South Africa and trained insafety management, Mr. Linford also worked in the constructionindustry with a successful contractor in Cayman. His backgroundfrom the other side of the fence gives him an edge. A valued memberof the OBM team, Mr. Linford focuses on contract administration,contract manuals and limited cost assurance.
With over 30 years of operation in the Cayman Islands and nearly67 years throughout the Caribbean, OBM says they will announcethe appointment of a production manager to complete the OBM managementteam in the near future.
