Ministries Assigned

The high profile portfolios of Tourism andAviation - which may no doubt include Cayman Airways are slatedto be the responsibilty of Executive Council member and DeputyLeader of Government business, Mr. McKeeva Bush, according toa well informed source.

The elected members have been meeting over the past few days sincetheir swearing-in last Wednesday (15 November) and it is understoodthat assignment of Ministries have now been agreed on the divisionof portfolios.

It is believed that Leader of Government Business, Mr. Kurt Tibbettshas agreed to take up the responsibilites of Works and Communications.It is also possible that Agriculture and Transport may also beattached to this Ministry.

Former ExCo member, Mr. Linford Pierson is being considered tobe handed the Ministry of Health and other portfolios previouslyheld by another former ExCo member and now backbencher, Mr. AnthonyEden.

It was already announced at a press briefing on Tuesday, 14 November,that the Minister of Education will be Mr. Roy Bodden, the firstelected member from Bodden Town, and a former school principalhimself. The new government has also declared its intention togive priority to education.

The only female member of the Excecutive Council, Mrs. Edna Moyle,North Side's MLA is mooted to assume the portfolios of the previousMinister, now a backbencer, Mrs. Juliana O'Connor Connolly. Thesewill include Social Services and Women's Affairs.

Up until press time for this Tuesday's edition, Cayman Net Newswas unable to confirm from the ministers themselves, the fulldesignations of their porfolios. It is expected that these willbe known on Tuesday, 21 November.
