Red Cross Chairman steps downafter 30-odd years

Chairman of the Cayman Islands Red Cross,Mrs Joyann Rollings, is formally stepping down after over threedecades with the organisation. She will do it formally at theorganisation's upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) slated forTuesday, December 12.

Mrs. Rollings has been instrumental in establishing a Red Crossheadquarters here in Cayman and views the project as an islandone, as it involved generous donations from the government inmatching funds for the construction, and from the private sectorfor such things as furnishing, paving and landscaping.

The centralised presence of Red Cross has facilitated on-sitework in helping victims both here and overseas with holding seminars,training sessions and growth.

Mrs. Rollings has been involved in the Cayman Island Red Crossbeing registered as a non-profit organization and its transitionfrom being a committee to a branch of the British Red Cross (BRCS)thereby allowing more autonomy.
Work with the National Hurricane Committee and Social Servicescontinues as a top priority in crisis and preparedness. Thereis a revival and growth in the Youth Department, with membersfrom schools island wide now totalling over 300.

C.I.Red Cross has just conducted a Planning Seminar and Retreatwith BRCS to prepare the growth to a vision from 2001 and beyond.Mrs. Rollings is confident that the C.I.Red Cross will continueto grow from strength to strength.
She will remain as an advisor to the local Red Cross.
