New Financial Services Magazinelaunched in Cayman

The Cayman Financial Review (CFR), a newfinancial services magazine for the Cayman Islands, held a mostsuccessful launch reception on Thursday November 30 at the GrandOld House. The reception was attended by more than 150 representativesof Caymanís financial services industry.
Guest speaker of the evening was Mr Patrick Barrow, an experiencedPublic Relations and media professional from the UK. Commentswere also made by the Honourable financial Secretary, Mr GeorgeMcCarthy.
The magazine is a private sector joint venture between Tower Marketing,Mr Ian Wight and Mr Naul Bodden. In his welcoming comments, MrWight stated that "this venture is truly a timely one andwe look forward to helping to enhance the international imageof the Cayman Islands as a successful international financialcenter. I am pleased to be working with Mrs Lynne Byles of TowerMarketing and Mr Naul Bodden on such a positive project for theCayman Islands".
Guest speaker, Mr Patrick Barrow, has many years of marketingand communications experience with some of the UK's most prestigiousorganizations, including the BBC, the Telegraph and the City ofLondon. In his speech Mr Barrow said that "Cayman has alreadyproven to the international community that it is a well regulatedfinancial center. Now the Islands should continue to enhance itsmarketing and promotion efforts to maintain its image as one ofthe premier financial centers of the world".
Financial Secretary Mr George McCarthy noted that "The CaymanFinancial Review should further strengthen the worldísview of the Cayman Islands as a leading international financialcenter. The magazine should serve as a forum for information exchangeabout the Cayman Islands and for discussion on matters of interestto the international financial services industry more generally".He also commended the partners of the venture and said that theCFR magazine should serve as a complement to the Government'scontinuing process of marketing and promotions for the Islandsífinancial services industry.
The magazine will cover a wide range of issues and developmentsrelevant to international financial centers such as the CaymanIslands. CFR will be marketed aggressively overseas and will havea presence at major international financial services conferences.The CFR will initially be published twice per year, a spring/summerissue in April and a fall/winter issue in November.
The magazine boasts an editorial advisory board with some of Caymantop professionals and 2 world renowned academics located in theUK and Hong Kong. Editorial members include Mr Wayne Cowan, MrIan Lambert, Mr Paul Byles and Dr Chris Rose.
Mrs Lynne Byles, Managing Director of Tower Marketing, the magazine'spublisher said "There are a small number of publicationsfocusing on international financial services, but we are not awareof many which are actually produced in an offshore jurisdiction.This gives the CFR considerable credibility as it is producedin one of the worldís leading international financial centers".
Mrs Byles added that responses from the private sector to themagazine have been enthusiastic and very encouraging. The firstissue of the Cayman Financial Review will be launched in April2001.
