The Ritz Carlton Project
Misconception about the recent Ritz CarltonGrand Court ruling
Dear Sir,
It is important for the public to note thefact that my appeal has only been on the golf course portion ofthe complex - that is, from the proposed bypass to the North Sound.
Contrary to the implication of the developer's recent and pastpress releases, my appeal has not had any effect whatsoever onthe planning permission granted three years ago on the hotel andcondominium section of this project.
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Mr. CharlesQuin, Mr. Kenneth Farrow and the staff of Quin & Hampson, the law firm that successfully argued my case and provided significantsupport to me.
What has been achieved is that the Central Planning Authority(CPA) now has to provide the objectors proper access to unseenmodifications of drawings and submissions that were before theBoard.
It must make decisions for itself and cannot delegate decision-makingpowers to government departments. The Grand Court has now foundthat the Ritz Carlton Developments approval was faulty and askedthe CPA to again consider this application, this time, in accordancewith the proper procedures.
In closing, I would like to thank the many, many persons who believedthat this cause was worthy of their interest and moral support.
Burns Conolly, AIA
