Commendationsto Immigration Board and Secretariat
The Portfolio of Internal & ExternalAffairs has issued a message of commendation to the ImmigrationBoard and the Immigration Board Secretariat.
"On behalf of my portfolio, as wellas on behalf of all Ministers and Members of Executive Council,I wish to publicly commend the Chairman, Deputy Chairman and allMembers of the Immigration Board, and the Chief Immigration Officer,the Secretary to the Board and staff of the Immigration BoardSecretariat who have together admirably completed the monumentaltask that was set for them back in August.
"I am sure that after such a long periodof not having quotas prescribed for the granting of Caymanianstatus under the Immigration Law, the prospects of dealing withthe backlog of applications as well as the potential onslaughtof new applications must have seemed more like a nightmare thanreality," stated Chief Secretary, the Hon. James Ryan.
"Not only did the Immigration Boardand the Secretariat prove capable of meeting the challenge,"added the Hon. Chief Secretary, "but I was extremely impressedin the well-thought out methodology that was developed and applied.It clearly demonstrates the seriousness and professionalism thatthese people bring with their commitment to public service."
While he does not anticipate that the ImmigrationBoard will be confused with Santa Claus, the Hon. Chief Secretarynoted: "Not even Santa can please every one, but a good Santaalways has a method to what he does too."
He wished all of those who had been involvedin the effort an especially joyful and restful holiday season.
