Minister PresentsWhite Paper to Governor
Human Resources Minister Hon. Roy Boddenpresents His Excellency the Governor Mr Peter J. Smith, CBE, withthe Employment Relations White Paper, prior to its considerationby Executive Council (ExCo) Tuesday, 18 December. Human ResourcesPermanent Secretary Joy Basdeo, shown left, looks on. The Ministryspent some nine months preparing the white paper, which containsrecommendations for changes to a number of employment relatedlaws, including the Labour Law, the Workers' Compensation Law,the Pensions Law, the Trade Unions' Law and the Trade and BusinessLicensing Law. It was also distributed to the Employment ServicesForum of private sector professional associations on the sameday. Following feedback from ExCo as well as the forum, the Ministrywill begin a three-month period of public consultation beforesubmitting the revised law to the Legislative Assembly.
