Temporary BuildingPermit Fees

Temporary building permit fees went intoeffect for all persons who receive permission to develop land.As of 23 November 2001, all fees have been reduced by 50 percent.These fees are only in place until 23 November 2002, at whichtime the law will revert to the previous charges.

This affects land in Cayman's A and B areas.Area A includes certain parcels of land in West Bay, George Town,North Side, and East End. Area B refers to all other registrationsections, blocks and parcel numbers in Grand Cayman and LittleCayman not included in Area A. Cayman Brac is unaffected.

In both areas, no permit fees are chargedfor houses less than 1,200 square feet or apartments less than600 square feet.
In Area A, temporary building permit fees range from 5 cents persquare foot (for houses 1,200 square feet but not more than 1,500square feet) to $2 per square foot for a gas station. Flat feesare $200 for residential swimming pools and $600 for commercialswimming pools.

In Area B, temporary building permit feesrange from 3 cents per square foot (for houses 1,200 square feetbut not more than 1,500 square feet) to $1 per square foot forgas stations. Flat fees are $100 for residential swimming poolsand $300 for commercial swimming pools.
