Grand Caymanian Resort Makes Cayman Proud

Under the ownership of Capt. R. C. Foster and Gary and Theresa Foster, Grand Caymanian Resort, proudly boasts the fact that it is the only resort which is wholly owned and managed by Caymanians.
It was opened in March of 2000 and the Foster family set out with a commitment to recruiting and hiring as many Caymanians as possible who wanted to flourish in the local tourism industry.
Nearly every member of the Executive Team, and Departments Heads, boast the Cayman Islands as his or her origin. More than 70% of frontline and other support staff are Caymanian as well.
Grand Caymanian Resort hopes to set an example for other companies to hire and motivate locals to look for employment in the tourism industry.
As the newest Five-star Interval International resort, the staff of Grand Caymanian Resort define themselves as first-rate Caymanian ambassadors for their guests.
"If people can stay at our resort, and not only experience all that Cayman has to offer, but enrich that experience when meeting staff who are natives, then we're proud of that. We feel this is a great accomplishment," commented Mr. William Conolly, General Manager.
He added that staff of Grand Caymanian Resort reflect the capabilities and enthusiasm of Caymanians excelling in the industry.
Many of the management staff started in the industry from humble beginnings, such as working in housekeeping or night audit.
Enjoying their work interacting with tourists and locals, their dedication to the industry led to their current successes.
The Foster family extends its support of Caymanians in the tourism industry with a commitment to promotion and upward mobility of staff within their organization.
They hope their example motivates young Caymanians to get involved in the industry, showing off their skills in culinary arts, entertainment, or service.
The Hon. McKeeva Bush, Minister of Tourism, Environment, Development and Commerce, and Leader of Government Business, said: "I am extremely proud of Grand Caymanian and the natural growth in tourism we've experienced, despite the decline we've seen in the past two years.
"Caymanians are stepping forward to grasp new opportunities. Caymanian ownership is very important to the strength of our community."
