FERRARA, Italy: Italy's former European champion and WBO welterweight challenger Alessandro Duran has retired, the Italian press reported on Thursday. The 37-year-old is the son of Carlo Duran, who was European boxing champion in super-welterweight and middleweight categories from 1967 to 1973.
