Three guns and 700 rounds of live ammunition recovered
Police have recovered three guns and 700 rounds of ammunition as part of the investigations into the armed robbery near Welly's Cool Spot Restaurant on Monday 9th December 2002.
In a joint operation between the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and officers from the Uniform support Group (USG) three firearms and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from what is described as bush area in the George Town location.
Two of the three firearms are described as handguns and the third is described as a shotgun. Also recovered were over 700 rounds of ammunition.
Detectives are unable to provide full details on the recovery of the firearms and ammunition as the investigation is still current and ongoing but officers are examining the firearms and exploring the possibility of a connection with the robbery.
Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident and formally charged with the robbery. Further charges in relation to the same matter are expected.
Two of those charged appeared in court on December 24th and were remanded in custody for a period of one week.
They will appear before the court again on Tuesday 31st December.
