For Sale: Seven Mile Beach?
Dear Sir,
With several 'for sale' signs posted alongone of the last nice beach areas north of the Holiday Inn hotel,it makes one angry to know that that nice and scenic area willbe sold.
I have taken hundreds of tourists on island tours along SevenMile Beach, and tour operators use that same beach area to letthe tourist take pictures of the beautiful scenery and walk inthe sand. And when the tourists see all those 'for sale' signs, they express their concerns too. Some even ask if the Island isfor sale!
I have no doubt that soon, we will not have a scenic outlook areaalong Seven Mile Beach to turn off and enjoy our beautiful sunsets,or just to relax and take in the Scenery, because of all the condominiums(condos) that are being built on every foot of beach property.
I think we should change the name of the area to SEVEN MILE CONDOBEACH instead of Seven Mile Beach.
Let's be real; the public beach is now overcrowded, and it's notgoing to get any better with population growth, so we must considerpreserving MORE of our beach land for recreational use, even ifit means paying to use it.
The huge holes for foundations that are dug into the beach sandto build condos will eventually distort the natural balance inthe longrun.
On the other hand, however, the condos will be the first buffersin the event of a hurricane coming in from the west. I guess thatis enough to put my opinion to rest.
