Unsung Heroes of the Game

Fall, sprain or twist an ankle or get anysort of injury in competitive sports and you'll probably see MarcyMcCaw running across the field to assist with care. And beingnearly eight months pregnant with her first child has not stoppedthis incredible woman's quest for healing.

A native of Canada, Marcy has been in the Cayman Islands for thepast three and a half years and is employed as a physiotherapistat Cayman Physiotherapy Ltd.

She covers the gamut of sports -- rugby, swimming, track and field,the national football teams, plus local football clubs Naya, GeorgeTown and Bodden Town.

"I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. To see the athletesgo through their successes and failure gives me a personal senseof satisfaction. Plus I've been involved with sports all my life,"stated Marcy.

"In Canada a physiotherapist has to log in so many hoursa month with sports team to keep their Level 1 physio-sports licencecurrent," she explained.

Marcy earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from University ofAlberta, in physical education and physical therapy. She is onthe way to securing her Level 2 licence. At university, she wasinvolved in a variety of sports: volleyball, track & fieldand competitive gymnastics. She was also on the Canadian figureskating team.
