Sade Wood

"She is a force to be reckoned withand she is only 14 years old," said National Basketball CoachVictor "Voot" O'Garo, referring to the youngest membersof the women's senior basketball squad, Sade Wood.

A rising basketball star, she is still a youngster by anyone'sstandard, but when she is on the courts at the Lion's Centre noone looks at how young she is -- all they can see is just howtalented she has.

She weaves and bob with the ball, feigning to the left and carryingthe ball to the right, leaving her opponents grabbing at air.And when she makes it to the basket, all the fans can hear isswish as the ball goes through the net.

Sade already has five years of basketball training to prepareher for what she hope will one day lead to a professional career.

She started playing in an inter-primary league and if you canbelieve it her team lost so badly that first year that they placedsecond to last. But nothing seems to discourage Sade. Accordingto Coach Voot, Sade is like the Energizer Bunny - she just keepstraining and training...

"I love basketball because it is fun to play," saidSade.

"I would like to become a good basketball player and maybetake it pro one day," she added.
