U-9 girls prepare for the Sprint swim meet next Tuesday
A "Sprint" swim meet will be heldat the Lionís Aquatic Center the afternoon of Sat 17 Feb.Entry forms are available at the Lionís pool office andmust be turned with by Tues. Feb 13th.
Cayman Water Company (appropriately enough) is sponsoring thedevelopmental meet. The half-day event is organized by StingraySwim Club in an age-group format with some open aged events. Sprintmeets are designed to be short, fast, fun meets, giving kids theopportunity to make the step up from learn-to-swim to swimmingas a sport, and are an extremely useful tool for improvement andencouragement.
There will be 25 meter events in all four strokes for 6 yr &Unders, same distance for 8 & Unders. If swimmers want tocompete in 50 meter events, they can, in the "10 & Under"categories. Age is determined by the child's age on the day ofthe meet.
There will be 'Open Mixed' events in the longer distances (400mfree, 200m IM, 200m "fly, 100 free, fly, breast and backstrokes), open to any age, either sex.
The 12 noon warm-up time and 1pm start are a change from the usualmorning meets, so as not to conflict with school sports day events.All swim parents are asked to donate their time and be there tocheer everyone on.
