The Right To Be Caymanian

Dear Sir:
I am 17 years old and from theage of one, my mother moved her family to the Cayman Islands, from the United Kingdom - a drastic change of both atmoshpereand climate.

Like many other young people who were not born here, I lose myfull right to stay in the Cayman Islands the day I turn 18.

We, the young people who have grown up here know and call theseislands our home and it is for this reason that I believe thatwe should have as much right to stay here as those who were bornhere.

What sense does it make to throw away the young people - the leader'sof tomorrow's society, who will eventually take over this smallrock?

I say to all young "non-Caymanians" out there, thatyou are part of the future of these islands, just as much as anyoneelse. Just because you do not have Caymanian status doesn't meanthat you're less Caymanian that those who do.
