Dive Expo in New Orleans

The Diving Equipment and Marketing Association(DEMA) is to be held this year in New Orleans on January 24 -27.

The Cayman Tourism Alliance (CTA) in collaboration with the Departmentof Tourism (DOT) have made sure that the Cayman Islands' presencewill be bigger than ever, with nearly 50 booths and with sign-poststhroughout the pavilion reflecting the 'Cayman Diversity' theme.

DEMA is a global, non-profit organisation comprised of over 1000companies and organisations with a mission to promote and providesustainable growth in recreational diving and snorkelling, througheducation and training while still protecting the underwater environment.

Kicking the show by sponsoring the Dive Travel Conference fortravel agents on Tuesday, January 23, the Cayman Islands willhost the approximately 300 agents expected to attend. Cayman willbe the only destination to have a 15-minute presentation for theagents and will give each a gift bag full of brochures and goodiesfrom different businesses Island-wide.

A celebrity booth will contribute to drawing traffic to the pavilion,with visits/appearances from Mr Jean-Michel Cousteau, miss Cayman,Debbie Van Der Bol and some of the Hall of Fame inductees forphoto opportunities and autographs.

Instead of the traditional Cayman Islands party, a HammerheadTheme night will be sponsored in the trade show Hammerhead Loungeon Thursday January 25, with James White playing island musicfor two hours. The lounge will be decorated with banners and signpoststo promote the Cayman Islands, and drinks from Stingray Breweryand Blackbeard's Rum will be served. All Cayman delegates willwear pirate costumes for a particularly festive happy-hour.
