World-renowned silversmith, Ms. RobynNichols

Ms. Robyn Nichols, an artist who works infine metals, will be on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac to give slidelecture presentations and show actual samples of her artwork,sponsored by the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands and Mitzi'sCoral Art Collections. Her travel to the Brac for her presentationto the Cayman Brac High School is courtesy of Cayman Airways.

Robyn has a vision that the beauty of nature can be brought tolife in the sculpting of precious metal. Her graceful and elegantjewellery and tableware are sold and collected across the UnitedSates, Canada, Australia, England, South America and the Caribbean.Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian,Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York, and the Contemporary Museumof Virginia Beach in Virginia, USA.

Currently, Robyn's work is featured in Benchmakers: Women in Metal,a curated exhibition travelling throughout the United States.

In 1990, Metropolitan Magazine selected Robyn as one of the 'Top100 Designers'. The popularity of her work has lead to featuresin several American publications including, Elle, Decor, Home,Bride's Magazine, New York Women's Magazine, and Traditional Homeamong others.

Always inspired by natural beauty, Robyn continues to create timelessdesigns. Her unique work is rendered in her own studio in KansasCity, Missouri. With assistance from two apprentices, Robyn isable to fabricate her designs and create limited editions andone-of-a-kind pieces.

This also allows her to oversee a production line capable of creatingmultiples of her jewellery, tableware and sculptures. Her specialisedprivate and corporate commission work has commemorated conventions,honoured guests, corporate and individual recognition awards,anniversaries and retirements.

Robyn has spent weeks at a time on Grand Cayman being inspiredby local flora and has many pieces in her line that were designedand created here on Grand Cayman, such as sea grape and watermelonleaf serving pieces, silver thatch earrings and a beautiful mangroveroot candelabra.

Robyn will be at the Cayman Brac High School auditorium at 8:15am on Friday, 19 January and the public is welcome to join thestudents for this presentation.

The presentation on Grand Cayman will start at 6:30 pm on Wednesday,17 January in the conference room of the Grand Pavilion, whichhas generously donated this space for this slide/lecture. Anyonewanting to attend the presentation on Grand Cayman should callthe National Gallery at 945-8111 to reserve a seat.
