Keely still in charge of CompassFun Run

Tony Keely dominated the second round ofthe Compass Fun Run series on Saturday, 20th January. In fact,Keely is the overall winner to date, amassing a perfect scoreof 40 points.

Keely dusted the rest of the 50 plus fieldof runners, securing a time of 10:35, 20 seconds ahead of DavePlumstead (10:55) and Mark Hydes, who was third, clocking in at11:17.

In the women's category, Sandy Hew leadsthe series with 38 points, but Tara Holland won this past Saturday,recording a time of 12:59 while Hew was timed at 13:27. Hollanddid not compete in the first series.

The two-mile course, which had competitorsstarting at Denham Thompson Way, through Walkers Road, turningright on South Road and back to Denham Thompson, was pickled withyoung and veteran runners.

John and James Tweedie are leading the U-12age groups in male and Shakeina Bush is in the top spot for 12-14age group for girls.

Lisa Smith, one of the last of the runnerssaid, "My main goal was just to complete the course."

And for a lot of people it seemed like asocialising exercising event for varying fitness levels.

Tony Keely, the day's top finisher as wellas the overall winner to date had this to say, "The Compassseries is a great start of the season. It lets you know your fitnesslevel and is a good gauge for your speed work."
