Caymanian returns from internationalassignment in London

Mrs. Joan Link, a Supervisor in the Trust& Corporate Services Department of the firm, Deloitte &Touche, recently returned after spending eight months in Londonand participating in a short-term assignment with two professionalfirms.

Mrs. Link who joined Deloitte & Touchein June 1997 as a Trust Administrator, grew up in Grand Caymanand is a 1993 graduate of the University of Waterloo with a BA(Honours) Degree in Management Studies.

Since joining the firm, she has taken advantageof its professional development assistance, and is now in thefinal stages of the ACIB / STEP Trustee Diploma course.

For three months of her assignment, shewas attached to the London office of the affiliate firm, Rawlinson& Hunter, where she assisted the Senior Partner for Trust& Tax with the implementation of tax strategies for the benefitof high net worth clients.

This project involved liaising with taxspecialists, attorneys, bankers, and trustees in other jurisdictions.Thereafter, Mrs. Link worked in the Private Client Departmentof Taylor Joynson Garrett, a London law firm. During this period,she assisted with the legal review of an existing offshore truststructure, and also assisted with a tax planning review and theimplementation of tax advice, as well a probate administration.

Commenting on her stay in London, Mrs. Linksaid "this assignment was very beneficial to me, particularlyfrom the point of view of gaining exposure to a tax planning environmentand the structuring of offshore vehicles to suit those plans.This experience will no doubt assist me in my career development."
