Appeal for help of Northwardmusic

Dear Sir,

Thank you for allowing us space in yournewspaper.

The Bar Tones is a dream waiting to becomereality. We are a group of individuals who have been blessed withmusical talent. It is our aim to change in a positive way withthe hope of inspiring others to do the same.

Not so many years ago, the thought of havinga prison band or setting up a recording facility at Northwardwould have been virtually impossible. Now, thanks to the progressivethinking of the new administration, we have managed to obtaina small room in which to practice and work on our music. Unfortunately, that is almost all that we have and we often find ourselves drummingon a desk or an upturned bucket in order to create a beat.

We believe the programme will serve as agreat source of rehabilitation for those who wish to explore theirmusical talents, such as singing, song-writing, and playing variousmusical instruments.

However, because of the unavailability offunds, the institution is unable to
the necessary equipment to run this project.

It is in good faith that we seek the assistanceof the general public, namely individuals, financial institutions, electronics firms and stores etc; in short, anyone who is interestedin assisting us in this cause. We will greatly appreciate anyassistance we can get, in either financial or equipment donation.

If you feel you can help or would like somefurther information, please contact us through the Assistant Directorof Prisons, Mr. Frank Marshall on 947-3000.

O Roper,
Northward Bar Tones
