ImmigrationLaw Fee Increases in Effect
The Government has amended the ImmigrationLaw (2001 Revision). The Immigration (Amendment) Regulations,2002, may be found in Supplement No. 3 published with ExtraordinaryGazette No. 5 dated 14 January 2002.
The Immigration (Amendment) Regulations2002 amends the schedule of fees.
The application fee for Caymanian statusis now $250. A fee of $50 has been inserted to cover an applicationfor acknowledgement of Caymanian status. The application fee forinitial residency for a permanent residency application is $100.The application fee for the grant of a temporary work permit isnow $35. In the same section, a phrase has been changed, so anapplication for the grant or renewal of a work permit is $35 "perapplication."
Fees for the grant or renewal by a professionalfirm of a work permit for any partner, director or associate nothaving Caymanian status, and these fees are payable in additionto any other work permit fees, are for the first five partners,directors or associates not having Caymanian status, $10,000 perwork permit; for the next five (6-10) partners, directors or associatesnot having Caymanian status, $20,000 per work permit; for thenext five (11-15) partners, directors or associates not havingCaymanian status, $30,000 per work permit; for the next five (16-20),40,000 per work permit. The maximum total fee payable by any onefirm is $500,000. Partners, directors or associates working inCayman Brac or Little Cayman pay 75% of the above-mentioned fees.
Fees for the dependants of work permit holdersare now $500 per dependant per year for a work-permit holder atthe level of administrator or above. For all other work-permitholders, the fee is $250 per dependant per year.
For a grant or renewal of a temporary workpermit for a managerial and professional worker, the fee for aworker in Grand Cayman is $1,000; in Cayman Brac or Little Cayman,$830. For a grant or renewal of a temporary work permit for askilled and technical worker, the fee for a worker in Grand Caymanis $250; in Cayman Brac or Little Cayman, $188.
The fee payable for the grant or renewalof a work permit for a chief executive officer, general manageror managing director for which a professional qualification isrequired is, in Grand Cayman, $10,000 per year; in Cayman Bracor Little Cayman, $7,500 per year.
