Personnel TrainingCourse Awards
Sixteen civil servants have recently completeda Certificate in Personnel Practice course from the CharteredInstitute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and will receivetheir awards at a ceremony on 24 January 2002.
The course, which was taught by lecturersfrom the University of Portsmouth and the Chichester College ofArts, Science and Technology in the UK, offered training to personsfrom a cross-section of government departments. Graduates willreceive certificates that equate to a level-three national vocationalqualification and associate membership in the Chartered Instituteof Personnel Development (UK). Those who gained distinctions areeligible for consideration for the CIDP professional programmeoffered through the University of Portsmouth.
Participants developed knowledge and skillsin personnel management, which facilitates effectiveness and efficiencyin personnel matters across the civil service.
The Personnel Department plans to againoffer this course later in 2002 for interested public- and private-sectorindividuals. Instructors Stephen Pilbeam, Principal Lecturer fromthe University of Portsmouth, and Jenny Goldsmith of ChichesterCollege, will be in Cayman for the graduation ceremony.
