The Quincentennial Celebrations Office introducesits website (www.caymn500.ky) to get feedback from the publicon the year-long festivities which are set to commence in Januaryof 2003.
The website, at this stage, is designedto allow everyone to suggest their ideas and viewpoints on howto best commemorate Cayman's notable heritage.
Executive Director Angela Martins says,"The best way of celebrating 500 years of Cayman's history is bygoing to people they know what aspects of our heritage shouldbe highlighted. So we are opening every avenue for individualsto get in touch with us the celebrations must remain true to Caymansensibilities and have the support and involvement of the people."
The Quincentennial Celebrations Office saysthat sponsor of the website, Internet Financial Services Ltd (IFS),has collaborated with the Quincentennial Office to make the siteuser friendly. IFS will continually update and change the websitethroughout the life of the project. These updates are aimed atkeeping the entire community apprised of all new developmentsfor the project.
In later stages, the website will includeeducational materials, children's activities, contests, quizzes,historical information and a frequently updated calendar-of-events.
The website allows persons to directly emailthe Quincentennial Celebrations Office. Suggestions may also befaxed to the office at 946-9994, telephoned to 946-9992, emailedto info@cayman500.ky or mailed to PO Box 1059 GT, Grand Cayman.
All suggestions received will help shapethe events and activities being planned for the celebrations occurringin 2002 on all three islands.
