Awards Presented in Appreciation of a Successful Pirates Week

Alvin McLaughlin holds the Best District Heritage Day Trophy that was awarded to East End this year. North Side's Thelda Whittaker, at left holds the second place plaque that went to her district and Ina Orr takes the third place plaque back to West Bay.

The judges declared Savannah-Newlands to have the Best Children's Activities, East End to have the Best Heritage Display and West Bay to have the Best Food. Pictured here are Heather Bodden of Savannah-Newlands, Alvin McLaughlin of East End and Ina Orr of West Bay.

District Chairpersons (from left) Dale Ramoon of George Town, Valerie Anderson of Bodden Town and Alvin McLaughlin of East End collect the winner's plaques for the District category of the Pirates Week Float Parade. George Town was first, East End second and Bodden Town third.

The overall winner of the Pirates Week Float Parade was George Town which was named Parade Champion for its Early Merchants of Shedden Road float. East End was awarded second place overall for its Communications Now and Then float. Cayman Carnival Batabano placed third overall with their Cayman Carnival, a fusion of Mas Bands. Pedro St. James Castle recently hosted the annual Pirates Week Appreciation and Awards Night bringing together the hundreds of people who make Pirates Week possible. Sponsors and other supporters were presented with plaques denoting the Pirates Week Committee's appreciation. Winners of the District Heritage Days and the Pirates Week Float Parade received best-of trophy, plaques and prize money.
