We have nothing to gain by being an overseas territory
Dear Sir,
My fellow Caymanians, let me paraphrase the words of the late Sir Winston Churchill "I cannot sit idly by and watch the desolation of Her Majesty's Empire".
I, as a Caymanian, have always championed the cause of my country and land so dear to my heart, a land I love.
I see the way the UK treated the Cayman Islands' people, a country that says it practises democracy.
Our reward? We ram it down your throat, whether you like it or not.
If we were poor and didn't have anything, I wonder what kind of attention we would get?
The UK joined an economic block of nations called European Block Euro. We, by now, must be convinced we have nothing to gain by being an overseas territory and the blatant Euro Bank case must have told us UK won't stop until they can bleed us to death.
I join the UDP in asking Mr. David Ballantyne and Mr. Brian Gibbs both to resign. They both should be given persona non grata.
The Attorney General has items on his desk that should have been answered a long time ago, like our beautiful Seven Mile Beach.
I also strongly support an independent body doing a thorough investigation called for by the PPM (People's Progressive Movement).
Don't let them get away.
In my opinion, let them dance to the music they wrote.
If the members of the Legislative Assembly move a motion and cut what's being paid to them, they'll get a lot of attention.
