Where else in the world could Euro Bank fiasco happen?

Dear Sir,

It has been some time since my last letter to the press but the recent fiasco with the Eurobank trial has pushed me to vent some of my built up frustration.

Where else in the world could this happen? One man allowed to cost a country untold sums of money because we allowed him to stay and repeat his obvious incompetence.

Mr. Gibbs made a mess of an earlier case and cost the government a large payout. He was then appointed the Director of our new Financial Reporting Unit (FRU), before which he received a medal from the Queen!

In his new capacity he becomes an "agent" of UK intelligence and together they decide to bring down a locally licensed bank by using an inside informant.

During this endless lies are told, documents are destroyed and peoples lives along with the reputation of our island is ruined. For what? Is it because of one bad client? Do we close a business every time a crook walks through the door or do we do our best to protect ourselves from such characters? Whose side is the UK really on anyway? Do they really want the best for the Cayman Islands or are they simply using us for their own selfish purposes?

I would like someone or some persons to answer these questions and I would also like to know which honor is Mr. Gibbs going to receive next a Knighthood?

By the way, has anyone any idea how much all of this is going to cost? Maybe Mr. Bush will have to give up the Chauffeur to pay for this one!

A very concerned Caymanian,

Osbourne Bodden
