Butterfieldcelebrates Online Banking anniversary

May 24, 2002 marks the one-year anniversaryof Butterfield Online. Bank of Butterfield was the first localclearing bank to offer a real-time online banking service to customers.With Butterfield Online, customers can pay utility and creditcard bills, order bank drafts and cheque books, view account andcredit card balances and transactions, request wire transfers,transfer funds between accounts and so much more ­ simplyby using any computer with internet access.
With approximately 3,000 users already signed up, ButterfieldOnline has soared in popularity since its inception one year ago.In addition, over 15 local businesses have signed on to allowtheir customers to make online bill payments.

These companies include Cable & Wireless,CUC and Weststar TV.

Over the next several weeks, Bank of Butterfieldwill celebrate the anniversary of Butterfield Online with theircustomers. Highlights of the celebration include online demonstrationdays in June at each branch with free food and drink. In addition,all Butterfield Online users who do online transactions duringthe next two months will be eligible to win a new Compaq Presariocomputer from Alphasoft. There will also be giveaways for customerswho sign up for the service.

Butterfield Online utilises the highestlevel of security encryption commercially available. In addition,each customer has a unique personal User ID and can choose hisor her own private password; both are needed to access the service.

The service also offers ease and convenienceto the user. It is free to sign up and most transactions costless than conventional paper transactions.
