Scholars Youth Players ReturnFrom Florida

The ScholarsYouth Team that traveled to Coco Beach, Florida

Scholars' youth players and coaches havereturned from a week long camp in Coco Beach Florida. The camp,called Coco Expo, was conducted by top coaches and professionalsoccer players who shared their vast knowledge of technical andtactical skills with the group. The youth players, in turn, arenow much better equipped to understand and play the game of football.

The Camp was an elite and residential campwhere the 19 Scholars youth (15 boys and 4 girls) lived on campus.

The program consisted of three sessions,each three hours in length. It was designed so that it focusedon all skill levels for both boys and girls. All players commentedthat the experience was indeed an excellent opportunity and statedthat they have learned a lot.

The coaches also benefited from the experience.Attending coaches Antonio Smith (Men's Team) and Greg Ebanks (Women'sTeam) were able to attend sessions and were exposed to a highlevel of coaching skills. "This was a total football experience,"commented coach Antonio Smith.

Scholars will be having their local FootballCamp this week where it is expected that they will be able toshare some of the coaching techniques they have learned with thekids locally.

Greg Ebanks, Secretary and Coach, commentedthat "Scholars is certainly pleased that they can contributeto the local community and the youth each year as they conducttheir Football Camp which is free of cost. We are also pleasedthat we can expose our youth to international experiences, suchas the Coco Expo Camp. This kind of exposure, especially for ourolder kids, may assist [young Caymanians] in obtaining soccerscholarships to attend college or universities overseas."
