Disney CruiseLines holds Community
Outreach Talks with Department of Tourism

Disney Cruise Lines (DCL) representativesrecently visited Grand Cayman to hold discussions with Departmentof Tourism management on community outreach opportunities throughoutthe Cayman Islands.
Disney's areas of focus are children andthe environment and its community mission is 'to be a good neighbourby sharing talent and resources throughout the communities thatthey operate within.'
Kim Piercy, Disney's Manager for Community,Cast, Government and Industry Relations remarked, "Whileour ships are mobile and do not reside within one specific communitywe strive to maintain good relationships and contribute to thecommunities and ports of call that we visit."
As such the Department of Tourism's managementteam facilitated two days of meetings with various industry andcommunity representatives to brief the DCL reps of their on-goingprogrammes and initiatives.
These meetings included representativesfrom the Department of Education, Department of Environment, LighthouseSchool, National Hurricane Committee, National Mentoring Programme/Chamberof Commerce, National Trust, the Red Cross and the Central CaribbeanMarine Institute.
Once the DoT management team reviews allmeetings and opportunities, they will make recommendations toDCL on how to effectively assist with Cayman Islands community-basedprojects.
Director of Tourism, Mrs. Lania Rittenhousecommented, "This is a perfect opportunity to work with thecruise industry, especially Disney Cruise Lines, who share somany of the ideals of the Caymanian community.
There are many synergies to partnering withDisney on outreach programmes and building goodwill amongst CaymanIslands' residents, businesses and associations."
The Disney Magic ship inaugurated serviceinto George Town, Grand Cayman on May 14 of this year. Their newwestern Caribbean route allows for alternate weekly calls intoGrand Cayman departing from Port Canaveral, Florida and includesstops in Key West, Cozumel, and Castaway Cay.
