Lands &Survey Offers New Service Buffer Map

A new service for planningapplicants who must notify their neighbors is now available fromthe Lands and Survey Department.
"In many instanceswhen applying for planning approval, applicants must inform ownerswho live in the area affected by their application. The area canvary and is defined by the relevant planning regulation but iscircled around the applicants parcel the buffer zone,"comments the Director of Lands and Survey, Clark Buchanan. Heexplains: "Finding out who owns which parcel used to be along process. Now, our Land Information System (LIS) softwaremakes it fast and easy."
In a matter of minutes,an owner can receive a map indicating parcels that fall withinthe buffered area, a list of title-holders and a digital fileof the information for mailing purposes. "It's ideal forconsulting engineers, developers, private surveyors, attorneysand the general public," concludes Mr. Buchanan.
The service is availableto an applicant at a cost of CI$5.00 per identified owner. Enquirer'sshould know their block and parcel number and obtain the applicablebuffer zone distance from the Planning Department, before contactingLands & Survey.
