Past Governor of Rotary DistrictIssues Yearly Report
Rotary District 7020, which includesthe Cayman Islands, has recently completed a prosperous year underthe direction of Mr. Robert Bodden, the 1999-2000 District Governor.
In a report issued at the completion of his term in office, Mr.Bodden detailed the many achievements that he and his administrationof 12 assistant governors accomplished during his year of serviceto the District.
District 7020 is comprised of Rotary clubs in 10 Caribbean countrieson 13 different islands. In addition to the Cayman Islands, thecountries in the District are Anguilla, the Bahamas, the BritishVirgin Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Barthelemy, St. Martin, TheTurks & Caicos Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The district currently contains 56 clubs, which includes the newaddition of the Delmas Airport Club of Haiti, and 2076 members,an increase from the previous year's total of 2062.
During his tenure, Mr. Bodden fulfilled much of the agenda thatwas laid before him. The number of clubs and members in the Districtboth increased at a time when many other Districts were losingclubs and members. Existing clubs were strengthened by projectssuch as the Happy Houses and Kids Meals projects in Haiti, bothof which were successful at providing much needed poverty reliefin the nation.
Over 72,000 meals were distributed, with 72,000 more ready togo, and 43 homes were built, while funds were raised to continuethese projects next year. In addition, Mr. Bodden was able tovisit 54 of the clubs and meet with representatives of the othertwo clubs during his twelve-month term.
The Rotarian District monthly newsletter "Happenings"was delivered via e-mail under Mr. Bodden's administration, eliminatingprinting and distribution costs while ensuring access to all clubmembers. Mr. Bodden's administration also oversaw and accomplishedthe active promotion of the upcoming International Conventionin Buenos Aires, the development of an e-mail delivery systemfor the Membership and Attendance Reports, the creation of PublicRelations awards to raise the profile of the clubs throughoutthe District, the launching of a new website (www.RotaryDistrict7020.org),and the distribution of disaster relief to clubs in St. Martinand the Bahamas to assist with hurricane relief efforts, amongmany other accomplishments.
According to his report, Mr. Bodden states that his theme forthe year was, "Act with Consistency, Credibility, and Continuity."His focus during the year was to embark on plans and programsthat embodied that theme, not only for successful action duringthe year, but also to build "a solid foundation on whichsuccessive administrations may build."
