Murder Suspect Released

It was confirmed by the Royal Cayman Islands Police (RCIP)Wednesday, 7th of June that a suspect who has been in custodyfor the shooting death of 20 year old Jamie Wood a couple of weeksago, has been released.

This is the fourth murder this year. In mid-January, a popularCaymanian young man was brutally murdered during a robbery bytwo young Caymanian former inmates, who had been released fromprison a few months earlier- A couple of weeks later, a womanfrom Jamaica working here was brutally stabbed to death by anestranged male Jamaican also here on a work permit.

41-year old Steve Earl Watler, was killed in Bodden Town. Followinga post-mortem, a police report has since confirmed that the "victimdied as result of a blunt trauma injury to the head" ...and "although a machete was used as a weapon it appears thathe (the deceased) was struck with the blunt side of the bladeresulting in death".

The RCIP is appealing for witnesses in the Jamie Wood murder,which took place across from a Shedden Road night Club to comeforward with information which would help them in their investigations.
