Jason Smith
Jason Smith is a 15-year-old student atJohn Gray High School. His parents, Sharon and Steve Smith, introducedhim to jet skiing four years ago when they purchased the family'sfirst jet ski, a Yamaha VXR.
Jason is not yet a licensed motor vehicledriver, but is the astounded champion of the 2002 Jet Around Caymanrace held Monday. The race began, and ended at Public Beach.
In a 13-man field, Jason and his 1200 GPRreigned supreme. " My training was going well leading upto the JAC championships, I felt confident of my chances to succeed.Also, I was eagerly motivated, as I didn't finish last year dueto mechanical difficulties."
Jason aspires to be a member of the eliteWater-Cross Tour Jet Ski league. But works hard on, and off thewater. Jason plans to attend University upon graduating from JohnGray next year.
The young man thanked his sponsors, ReliableIndustries and Truly Nolen, who purchased the winning craft. Healso showed gratitude to his parents for their continued support.Jason will defend his title next year.
