New Cayman Brac West EndPost Office and Mail Processing Centre to Open

The new West End Post Office and Mail ProcessingCentre in Cayman Brac will open for business at 8:30 am on Tuesday2 July 2002.
The existing West End Post Office will closeits doors at 10:00 am on Friday, 28 June 2002 in preparation forthe move and to set up the new facility.
Post box renters at the present West EndPost Office can check their post boxes for mail until Saturdaynight 29 June 2002. However, the Postmaster General asks thatcustomers collect parcels and general delivery mail by 10:00 amon Friday, 28 June to enable a smooth transition.
"The new facility will be the mainpost office for Cayman Brac and Little Cayman," explainsthe Postmaster General, Ms Mona Banks-Jackson, adding that mailwill flow to and from the Gerard Smith Airport and other postoffices. The new post office will also offer 593 post boxes forrent and additional services including an Internet café,a spacious customer service area and an adjoining parking lotfor added customer convenience.
Rental fees on an annual basis are CI$75.00for a small box and CI$250.00 for a large box. Customers on thewaiting list and general delivery customers who wish to enjoythe convenience of a private post box at the new post office,accessible at all times, may now collect applications from thecurrent West End Post Office. Forms can also be obtained fromthe Stake Bay Post Office until the close of business on Thursday,27 June, or at the new office beginning on Tuesday, 2 July Currentrenters at the present West End Post office will retain theirbox numbers at the new post office.
They are asked to hand in the keys to theirWest End boxes on Tuesday, 2 July, in exchange for new ones.
Customers moving from another post officeand wishing to retain the same or similar number, provided itis not the number of a current renter at the current West EndPost Office, should complete and return a post box applicationform if they have not already done so. When filling out the formfor the new post office please note that WPO is the correct suffix,to be inserted immediately following the number.
The Postmaster General apologises for anyinconvenience that may be encountered during the transition. MsBanks-Jackson also extends an invitation to the official openingof the new post office on Saturday 22 June, at 3:30 pm.
